HIPPA PRIVACY

Dr. Goodsell is compliant with HIPPA and values patient confidentiality. Below is our privacy policy:

All information regarding the care of the individual patient is maintained as confidential information. Patient care information is the property of the patient. Brent H Goodsell D.O. PC is the steward or caretaker of the information and the owner of the storage medium.

The purpose of this policy is to protect the patient, the clinical team, and Brent H Goodsell  from inappropriate dissemination of information regarding a patient in our care. This policy applies to all temporary or permanent employees, visiting professionals, residents, or interns, as well as all information resources, verbal, written, or electronic.

Confidential Information:

  • Patient care information collected or generated by Brent H Goodsell, D.O. 

  • Information entrusted by the patient to any employee of Brent H Goodsell, D.O. 

  • Any knowledge any employee has of a patient seen by Brent H Goodsell, D.O.

Patient Care Information:

  • All information, data, and/or knowledge relating to the care of our patient includes but is not limited to:

    • Medical records in any form

    • Administrative data

    • Business or financial data

Employee Standards:

  • All patient care information collected and/or generated within the office of Brent H Goodsell, D.O. shall be maintained so that access is restricted to those who need to know and release such information under the guidelines of State and Federal Laws.

  • All employees shall be responsible for maintaining confidentiality of all information entrusted to them by all patients.

  • All employees shall exercise caution in any discussion of information relating to any patient in our care.

  • It is unethical and unacceptable for any employee, visiting professional, resident, or intern to disseminate confidential patient information or interfere with its intended use.

  • Violations of this policy will be subject to disciplinary action, including and up to loss of privileges and/or dismissal.

For patients with disabilities / special needs, or if the patient is a minor, the patient's healthcare information is shared with the patient's legal guardian / caregiver. In some of these cases, proof of power of attorney will be needed.

If a patient would like us to be able to share healthcare information, a medical release from is available.
